Nature, Mindfulness & health

Nature can help us be happier and healthier , especially in trying times

It’s a difficult time in the world right now and one thing that can help us feel calmer and more grounded is to make contact with the natural world in one way or another. Nature can make us happier and healthier as individuals and as a community.

We’ve put together this page of ways nature can help you stay healthy, feel good, and be mindful of all the beauty around you. You’ll find content that everyone can enjoy.

Let’s continue to share our love of nature and gardening together as a community.

mindful Nature walks

Going outside for some fresh air and exercise can help manage stress and make you feel calmer and more energized. Practice mindfulness by really looking around you to notice what is changing and developing in nature - there is something new to discover every day!

What is a “mindful” walk? In this blog post, learn what mindfulness is and how it can improve your health. Then, discover a blueprint for a mindful nature walk in your garden, neighborhood, or local park.

One great way to practice mindfulness with kids is to use all of your senses during your nature walk. Learn about a sensory nature walk we developed specifically for families in this blog post.

Try “Name that Plant,” make a Mason jar terrarium, or bake some dinosaur fossil cookies together as a family.

In the Garden

Going outside to garden can improve your mood and your health. It’s also beneficial to just sit in the garden and enjoy your surroundings!

We have resource pages for specific gardening topics such as gardening 101, growing food, gardening for wildlife, and more.

In your home

Our homes are a reflection of how we feel and who we are. They are also the space of our daily rituals. Designing your home as a place of calm and inspiration will help you feel positive and strong. Caring for your family, pets, and plants is an important way you can show your love (always remember to take time to care for yourself, too)!
