Cache pots work just as well as pots with a drainage hole and tray. They are also sleeker and protect your furniture from water overflow damage. For larger plants, cache pots make it much easier to move the plant, as a plant potted directly into a ceramic container can get very heavy!

How do I water a plant in a cache pot?

The best way to water your plants when using a cache pot is to remove them from the decorative pot and water them over the sink. Once the plant is done draining, put it back in the cache pot.

The easiest and most practical way to water your plants when using a cache pot is to water the plant deeply, leaving it in the decorative container. Return to the plant within an hour and empty any water that has pooled at the bottom of the cache pot. Once you have done this a few times, you can usually figure out exactly how much to water to give your plant at once so that it is watered thoroughly, but not sitting in a puddle of water afterwards.
