We are fortunate to have been able to work closely with the Ballard Boys & Girls Club these last few years on landscaping and planting projects. Recently, we were contacted by another club, the Smilow Rainier Vista Club, about a possible collaboration, and we were thrilled.
We took a tour of the facilities, which include a club for kids ages K-8 and a teen center. The hard work and dedication of staff and volunteers at the Boys & Girls Clubs we have visited is an inspiring thing to see. At the Smilow Rainier Vista Club (known as SRV), they serve hundreds of kids of all ages with programs, field trips, daycare, and more. They have also worked to sustain a teen program that now has a daily attendance of over 80! Their mission statement says it all: To inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
For SRV, we were able to design and plant a landscape for an area seen from inside the club's conference room and from outside in the neighborhood. We hope the garden will enhance the club and bring smiles to the faces of the community they serve.
We had an amazing time working with the dedicated staff, board members, and other volunteers at the club for a landscaping, weeding, and planting party. We'd like to share some of the photos of our day with you.
We hope to be able to work with both the Ballard and SRV Clubs again soon! Thanks to all the talented people at Swansons at in the community who made this happen!
